Art Opening Flowers

A a quick study of a hand full of flowers that my friend, Molly, arranged for my art opening.

I am excited and relieved to report that I survived my first one woman show. The opening was at Frameworks, on Dixie Trail, in Raleigh, NC. People did come out on a cold and rainy Tuesday night and I sold a lot of paintings. I am thrilled and pleased that my "buddies" are going to nice homes and I thank all who came and looked. The show is up through December 4th.

*in case you didn't notice, I am now a brunette (back to nature)

Party Flowers I

These flowers were left overs from a pre-wedding party I hosted, along with 30+ others.  This is one of three paintings that I did over the next few days as the flowers  slowly faded away. June was the month of flower arrangements that begged to be painted.

Cantaloup in the Sun

This was done last week out in the sun. In my first attempt the sky was cloudy, then the sun came out to stay and I had to start a new sunny painting. It makes for good fun and great pratice.

Calico Creek

A little summer painting done one hot morning in June.  I loved it when the fishermen showed up.

SOLD

Cloudy Morning on Bogue Sound

This was done on an overcast morning this June.  We have let the wildflowers and grasses grow.  Occasionally I will selectively weed the weeds.

SOLD

Worried Trawler

Mike Rooney and I went painting on Radio Island one afternoon this June.  It seemed a bit like an Outward Bound adventure to me.   It took forever for me to set up, the wind kept blowing my umbrella out of its holder, the sun was beating down on the backs of my legs, which I wrapped in paper towels and of course the bugs were biting me, only me....... not Mike, he was happily painting away during all my gyrations.  This may explain the worried look on the trawler.

SOLD

Early Morning Sun

The light on the flowers made them glow.  I painted this small quick study one morning several weeks ago.

SOLD

Birthday Flowers

I painted these flowers this week.  They were a birthday present from my husband.

SOLD

Lone Palm

This is a painting of the beach in Nosara, Costa Rica.  My husband has gone every year for the past 15 years with a group of friends to surf.  This was painted as a birthday present for him 5 years ago.  Needless to say it is NFS.

Green Apple

This apple was painted outside in the sunshine.  It is actually a plaster apple, not a real Granny Smith.

SOLD

RFA Chair

This chair was painted several months ago.  I am a partner in a consignment furniture and art/artist studio in Raleigh......Studio 1 2 3 .  It is great fun and there is an endless array of  wonderful items to arrange and paint.  A great plant nursery, Logan's, is nearby, so plants and flowers are easily had to add to the mix.

*This painting was raffled and, I am proud to say, raised quite a bit of money for a very good cause.

SOLD

Red Cheek Russian Girl

This was painted several years ago.

Little Lime Big Orange

I painted this last Fall after completing a workshop taught by Mike Rooney. His class was my first exposure to the Cape Cod style and I loved it.

SOLD

Asparagus

I painted these asparagus in the sun, then roasted them in the oven and  ate them for supper that evening.  Now that's a good deal.
